About Me


Vera Matic My name is Vera Matic and I live in Johannesburg, South Africa. I was born in Germany, where I grew up, but I have lived most of my life in sunny South Africa.

I started making Miniature teddy bears in 2001. After making the first bear from a kit designed by a local artist I was hooked. Right from the beginning I started to develop my own patterns. My first 50 bears were birthday presents, but then I received orders and started selling my bears locally. In the meantime I have exhibited in Zurich, Sigrisville, Reinach, Wiesbaden, Frankfurt, London, Taiwan and, Tokyo. You can also find some of my bears on at the Teddy-Paradise in Frankfurt, the Doll and Bear museum in Basel and sometimes on EBay.

Bear making is my hobby besides my full time job in the travel industry. Occasionally I give classes to spread the interest in bear making locally.

Ich liebe Teddybäre und mache seit 2002 Miniatur Teddybären. Bärmachen ist mein Hobby und in meiner Freizeit nähe ich Bären oder suche nach kleinen Spielsachen, alter Spitze und anderem Zubehör.

Ich bin in Deutschland aufgewachsen lebe aber jetzt schon mehr als mein halbes Leben in Johannesburg im sonnigen Südafrika. Meisten stelle ich zweimal im Jahr international aus. Der Kontakt zu Sammlern, Bärmachern und interesierten Besuchern macht mir sehr viel Spass. Ich hoffe Sie geniessen meine Kreationen und danke Ihnen für den Besuch.
